I’m a research nurse in the children’s hospital, specifically the Clinical Research Unit, and I’m working to develop an app that allows for research participants track their wellness during a clinical trial so that self-reported healthcare is built in to a patient’s lifestyle rather than a once-monthly interview with an intimidating physician or nurse.
Healthcare, like many American institutions, has not yet caught up with technology options. Sure there are clinical trials and device studies dedicated to artificial hearts and insulin pumps and wearable activity trackers, etc. but the maintenance of oneself in a healthcare setting is just not there yet.
So while I spend most of my time administering study drugs and trying to bounce positively from room to room taking temperatures and logging blood pressures, I’m also working with some tech bros to develop clinical trial maintenance mobile application software.
